Living in Texas knowing how to speak Spanish is almost a must for a lot of reasons. The main reason is for the job market. A lot of places want someone who is bilingual. So when I picked to review Pimsleur Spanish 1 I was beyond excited.
When I received it I was surprised to see that it was packed very well. Once I opened the box I also impressed at how it looked.
Once I opened it up it had a very inviting presentation to it and made me want to jump right into it.
There are two packs of disk which isn't overwhelming when you think of doing one disk a day.
I started using disk one and I loved how it gave some background to the Pimsleur Approach. It also gave detailed instructions, which weren't hard at all, to follow when using it. Once I got into the lesson it was very easy to follow. The way it is presented makes it fun and easy to learn.
I haven't been able to listen to it everyday because of different things coming up. I know once I get into it good and start using it more I will fly right through it and it will give me a good base to start conversations. I do have a few friends that speak Spanish and have agreed to help me with my Spanish!
If you are looking to speak another language I would check out Pimsleur Approach. They have more courses than Spanish.
Here are just a few of the different languages that they offer: Albanian, Arabic (Eastern), Arabic (Egyptian), Arabic (Modern Standard), Armenian (Eastern), Armenian (Western), Chinese (Cantonese), Chinese (Mandarin), Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dari Persian, Dutch, Farsi Persian, Finnish, French, German and many more. I took Spanish in High School many years ago. But with not using it I had lost almost all knowledge of it. This course is great at helping me to get back into speaking Spanish again and better than ever. After I have gotten the hang of Spanish my next language course that I am going to get is German. Why German you ask, well when I was in the Military I was stationed in Germany for about 7 years. Along with living there and taking the Military German Headstart course (which was mandatory) I was able to understand, speak and yes even read and write it some. Since being away from the country and speaking it I have lost it. Now just like with Spanish I do remember some of it but not enough to carry on a conversation. I know, you are probably thinking, you don't live in Germany anymore so why learn it again? Well, I hope one day to be able to visit there again also, I am just wanting to be able to speak a couple different languages. Who knows, after I have gotten Spanish and German down again I might just move onto another language!!
If you are looking to speak another language, no matter the reason, or have been looking at one of the numerous CD courses I suggest you check out the Pimsleur Approach.
